I've put new felt on the bottom. Right now the humidor is till setting on my bench with 10lbs. of weight on the lid to compress the felt so the lid shuts completely. It's pretty close now. If I had a key for the lock I could lock it shut. Last one I had made cost me $20. That was about 8 years ago. Probably costs half again as much now. Still...I'd like to have a key.
Trays and humidifiers are my least favorite things to make. I'm working on pipes and putting those tasks off. I need to get it done. I'm going to try and make some progress this weekend. |

I can get a locksmith to make one using the removed lock mechanism. It's a simple lock. I always keep a duplicate because one key may fit multiple humidors. It costs less to have a duplicate made than to have a key made from a lock.

I'm slacking. Been working on pipes. The box silently mocks me from my bench. Need to get hot on finishing this!

Checked in on the locksmith. They had the lock for two weeks. Two dudes together couldn't figure it out. I said thanks, I guess I'll do without a key.
I put the box back together. Got the cedar laid out. I expect to cut a tray this weekend. |
