A drop of water in your Scotch?

I'd written of the positive and negative aspects of adding a drop or more of water to one's whisky in this article a while back. Imagine my surprise, then, when I stumbled across a 3-pack of Uisge Source Water of Scotland at my local specialty food emporium...

I still can't say for certain whether the particular taste parameter of this product is worth the cost. But it definitely added to the positive atmosphere of our latest whisky tasting gathering last weekend!

Anyone ever notice the French bottled water Evian is "naive" spelled backwards?

Of course, if circumstances allow me access to high quality spring or well water (not bottled, but sourced at the source! - Bourbon lovers would term it 'branch water'), the I'll happily go that route.

A gentle, very gentle hit of club soda makes the single malt go down nicely

Seriously.

Pure well or spring water is an increasingly valuable commodity. Many distilleries purposefully acquire large areas of land around their sites specifically in order to safeguard their sources of water.

as I recall the drought in TN a few years back had Jack Daniels in a quandry

no doubt the water is a key to the whisk(e)y
