There are a number of possibilities. Poor construction is one. But it is probably that the cigar was too moist. As it heated up, the excess moisture caused it expand and split.

As Rob stated--over humidified, which also answers the hard draw part in a lot of cases.

If this cigar was newly obtained or purchased, then it obviously came to you "wet." But if it's been stored in your humidor, then you probably want to check your RH.

It was my brothers batch, he had two of them humidity pack things in the small travel box

I believe you are correct , actually I am sure you are based on the label...
