This is exactly where my wife and I went on our honeymoon in 1995. We enjoyed it very much, probably our best trip. We were told not to wander outside the resort due to safety concerns, but we did end up hiring a guide to take us exploring around the area. Hiked through the rain forest, found a waterfall, and went all over the island. That said, I was not into cigars much at the time, so didn't check out the scene. We were approached everywhere we went to buy pot, it was a bit comical. I hope you enjoy the trip as much as we did.
