I have written the story of the guy next to me trying to show off his whiskey knowledge to his date. He orders Ardbeg Octomore and then orders oysters.

Not a good pairing...... I cannot imagine tasting Ardbeg and partially digested oysters for 3 days

I think I just threw up a little in the back of my throat. I like oysters and I like Scotch, but there's just no imagining them both at the same time.

I remember telling the guy that peat plus oysters wouldn't go well... but he knew better

at least it was a short run to the bathroom

In the James Lee Burke novels, Clete drinks his Scotch with milk. I used to think that was the ne plus ultra of disgusting.
