I murder popcorn roasters

In the last few months, I've burned up two presto poplite's and a cheap roaster from Meijer while roasting coffee. What's the deal? My first poplite lasted about a year. My newest one made three half cup servings of coffee before quitting.

Do you have a voltage regulator? I seem to remember that being a crucial component of roasting in a popper.

helps with roasting period in my mind... the voltage swings at my house in VA were pretty amazing, the Variac really smoothed things out.

Could very well be. When I roasted, I used a roaster and not a popper. Others who do will chime in, I hope.
