Whole new world!
Okay, I've ordered my tools and materials. I have some tobacco coming. I've been studying ebay and checking out new pipes for perspective. It appears that a pipe depreciates pretty rapidly once smoked. There are some nice pipes (at least they appear nice) on ebay. Dunhills appear the most collectable. I'll pass on them unless I get lucky. The restoration video was interesting. Not too difficult. I think I can treat a pipe bowl finish similar to my humidors. Oil finish with wax over. I can't fix a stem, but I think that might be a rare necessity.
Won a nice pipe tonight for $10. Really great burl root grain. Hope it smokes okay. Sure hope I enjoy the smoking. Because I'm having lots of fun with the rest of the hobby! |
