Breaking In A Pipe...

How do I break in a pipe... I dident think I had to do that... So I never did...

No need to "break-in" a meer ... so no worries there.

For briars ... just add tobacco and smoke. For the first 5 bowls or so, load up only 1/2 full and smoke all the way to the bottom. That way you will get a good char started at the bottom of the bowl. After that just load it up and smoke it. After 10 full bowls you will have it fully broken in.

How do I pack it for the half bowl properly?

Fill to the top loosly. Pack it halfway down roughly. Light and smoke.
