K. D. Lang vs Shania

Don't even really know where I'm headed with this...

Spousal unit and I got into a discussion about K. D. and she asserted that K.D. was considered "country" in her early recordings. ITunes says so as well.

I've always considered K. D. (carpet munching not withstanding, I do that too and enjoy it) to have one of the biggest voices out there. Shania don't even come close. More pleasing to the eye perhaps, but what does that matter? I like to listen to JJ and she was no prize.

Thoughts? K.D. too early? Shania caught the wave?

Regards,
J.
