It's funny. I'm hearing songs in movie soundtracks I recognize and have been buying CDs of albums I either had on tape or lost track of over the years.

The latest is Upstairs at Eric's by Yazoo. Very primitive early technopop by Vince Clarke, who was a founding member of Depeche Mode and left after their first album to form Yazoo with blues singer Alyson Moyet. After two albums with her, he went on to form the gay-forward band Erasure and continues to explore techno. The music on album is so simple that a cheap Casio keyboard could do it today, but was cutting edge in 1985. Still has really good hooks.

Besides that, I'm exploring Leonard Cohen's last album before he died. Jury is still out as to what I think of it in perspective of his career as a whole. In some ways it reminds me of Warren Zevons last album when he knew he was dying and faced it head on in the music. Cohen said on the release of the album that he was ready to die and he did within a week of it's release.

I picked up an aerosmith CD a while back, it been a nostalgic time. Then, I decided to finally learn what he was saying. It's pretty hard to listen now.

Be sure to watch the NETFLIX documentary on Rush. It's good.
