Well, I guess I'm doing it wrong...using condimentals as bases and bases as condimentals...and if that's wrong, I don't want to be right. And I got a friend hooked on the blend and he gets it made in a west Texas tobacco shop.

Jeff, I enjoy stronger blends. I tend to use Dark Fired tobaccos, both Kentucky and Virginia more as a base. Then I add flue cured Virginias and Orientals as condiments to the stronger tobaccos.

Planning to try my hand at blending my own once I have the money to order the various components.

Here's my plan to start with. Think I got the common, basic tobaccos found in most blends:

Yeah, should be fun to try out different things and hopefully come up with a blend I really like. Plus, will help me learn what I like in pre-made blends so I know what to look for and buy.

For me, I keep blends simple. For example, I enjoy VaPer (Virginia & Perique) and VaBur (Virginia & Burley) blends. I make my best blends with these simple mixtures. I have tried traditional English and Balkin blends thet contain 4 to 5 different tobaccos. I didn't like these mixtures as much as the simpler 2 tobacco blends.

Yeah, only a few English blends have been to my liking, most were not.
As for Balkan blends, I have really liked the couple I've tried. The Arango Balkan Supreme is the standout for me. Screwed up during separate orders and ended up with 3oz of it, lol. Good thing I like it I guess.

Keep in mind, Cavendish does not age well. Use it only if you plan on smoking that blend now.

Definitely good to know.
It's highly unlikely I'll be aging anything beyond simply how long it happens to take me to smoke it, so probably 1yr max guesstimateing by my current supply of blends.
