Walk-in Humidor Question

My LCS has a nice walk-in humidor. The shop is located in a strip mall with many fast food and sit down type food choices nearby. Folks are always coming in with their bag of takeout and the owner or store manager will politely ask them to leave their food in the lounge area to include folks with drinks of any kind while they are in the humidor. I always assumed he doesn't want the aroma of the food or drink to mix in with the sticks. And there is no smoking in the humidor.

Like a number of you I have been in countless walk-in humidors all over the United States and elsewhere. So, there is a cigar shop in a town over from me that has a nice sized humidor with a very deep and varied selection of sticks. Customers while browsing for sticks are allowed to smoke IN the humidor. This is the only place I have ever seen this.

Is this common or unusual? Thanks
