Steve Saka Todos Las Dias Double Wide Belicoso
I got to sit and talk with Steve Saka for about an hour last night at the Club Humidor on Thousand Oaks here in San Antonio. He handed me a Todos Las Dias Double Wide Belicoso. I’m smoking it this morning with my Chameleon Cold Brew coffee.
This is a beautiful Nicaraguan puro with a silky brown wrapper. The wrapper and foot smell like coffee with a light touch of leather. The bunch is pleasantly firm and the cold draw is perfect. The cigar starts off with medium bodied smoke and flavors of coffee and leather with a very smooth retrohale. The ring gauge may be a bit intimidating for some, but the tapered cap solves that issue, giving the mouth feel of a robusto. The construction is immaculate with a perfect burn. During the first third the strength began to develop with the complexity of flavors improving, adding some cedar notes to the mix. The smoke is plentiful and smooth with a light pepper appearing in the retrohale. The burn continues to be even with a conical coal. This is a wonderfully crafted cigar. At 2/3 the strength has built to full bodied while remaining cool and pleasant. The flavors are so well balanced that picking out the flavors is secondary to the overall experience. It continues to burn even and the notes in the retrohale are still not overwhelming. Approaching the final inch the burn did require a minor touch up, but everything else is wonderful. The flavors of the coffee are perfect for the cigar. Now very full bodied, it’s performing exactly as described by Steve Saka. The cigar starts off medium bodied and builds to full. And the complexity continues to be very satisfying. The way the smoke is not heating excessively makes me want a cigar pick to finish up. Overall, this one earns a 9.5/10. Joe Bob says check it out.
