Glad I brought Meerschaum
Many of you know I work offshore (Gulf of Mexico) - seems more like I live offshore and get infrequent short visits to "the beach".
Well, I came out this time planning to get some experiance with my new found hobby in pipe smoking. Being limited to how much baggage I can bring and not really having a good briar rotation- I arrived here armed with only a single meerschaum pipe. Well, meerschaum was definately the way to go! Did I mention we have to smoke outdoors? With the typical average breeze this time of year weighing in at more than 8 knots - chances are my wood pipes could have been damaged. Talk about a noticable cherry even when I wasn't drawing on the pipe - Upside to wind = newbie hardly needs a relight. Downside = Harsh and gurgly Oh well - got to take what I can get
