International market

Reminded myself why I only go twice a year. While the dollar goes a lot further, it requires an immense level of discipline to not buy more than you can use before it spoils. Big finds today: fresh head on shrimp, Kim Chee big hunks of pork belly for making homemade bacon. Gonna be a good week to eat here!

we have choices here, and dear lord I have no and I mean no discipline... black radishes? Sure! 5 kinds of eggplants? Why not! Pickled anything? Sure! (I don't know whether Poles or Koreans pickle more stuff)

From my experience, the Koreans have my vote. It's unfortunate that we don't get more pickled products from them.

Korean restaurants are a good place to find them. As a point of humor, our local Korean restaurant is named "Ill Me".

For foodies, H Mart is your biggest dream and worst nightmare. You can get most everything at supermarket prices.

If shopping international markets besides H Mart, beware purchasing anything with any sort of grain in. You can see the meal moths flying around the store and they will infest any grain or spice that isn't sealed up.

Speaking from experience, it is hell trying to get rid of them. Been working on it 3 years throwing infested stuff out and using Pine Sol to wipe out the inside of cabonets along with pheramone traps.
