Davidoff Year of the Dog Churchill

This cigar has a rustic medium colorado color wrapper. Mild aromas of cocoa and coffee from the foot. The cold draw is perfect with more light cocoa notes. Tonight’s beverage is a Santa Fe Imperial Java Stout.

The initial flavors are toasty tobacco with coffee and hints of toffee. The retrohale has a very light dusting of white pepper. The burn is very even and the ash is solid and mottled grey.

This is a light to medium bodied smoke. In the first third the burn runs a bit; I will give it time to self correct. Some cedar notes join the flavor profile. The ash remains very solid; I will tap it soon to avoid an accident.

During the second third the cigar remains medium bodied and very pleasant. The pepper in the retrohale is consistent as is the flavor profile, although the toffee is more of a caramel now. The Java Ale is a good pairing. The burn remains even and the ash is solid.

Approaching the final inch the complexity of flavors remains excellent. The construction of the cigar is also outstanding. A very flavorful medium bodied cigar. 9.25/10, Joe Bob says check it out.

Jeff,

I enjoy the fact that not only do we get a insightful Cigar Review, but often a pairing recommendation as well.

Another, job well done Sir.

Cheers!
