re-seasoning my humidor need help

Hello all, here is the story when I moved out from the soon to be ex-wife's I left my humidor there ( I know, i am a idiot ) anyway I recently picked it up and aside from some holes in my cigars which had to be thrown out (not beetle holes if you get my drift) the Humidor was dry as a bone and the humidity was 40%. I have just made my first re-order and after adding 50/50 to the credo it would not get past 47% so last night I put a sponge in the bottom in a bowl with some distilled water and this morning it read 52% so I left the bowl in there. Should I do anything else ? the box holds 200 sticks so where should I get the % up to before the cigars go in , I am assuming that it will lower when the cigars go in so any help would be helpfull

Thank you, Mark
