I did this stand recently. It's already sold so don't ask.
It has a cast base with a plated finish. It was pretty corroded. At first I used steel wool to get the crust off. That was way too little firepower. Next I tried 600 grit wet/dry sandpaper. At this point I was expecting to paint it. I still couldn't get through the rust. Finally I used a drill with a wire wheel. That did a decent job. When I was done I looked at it and thought: Hey, this is pretty good! So in the end I put a coat of wax on it and called it good. The stone looking section is a faux finish that is original.
If you look at the original pic you might notice that the bottom center section had a different piece. A lot of those pieces which are called spacer or riser sections, are made of pot metal. Also called white metal it is really soft fragile stuff. I broke the original piece and scoured ebay for a replacement. I think I like the replacement better than the original.

Ashtray stand in original condition after sitting in my workshop for 8 years or so. Pretty crusty.

Same perspective finished.

Straight on pic.

Kind of similar to the first one I posted.

Yes, very similar. I think you have actual glass in your more ornate base.

Very nice. Something to think about, you can find scotch bright balls on a mandrel.

https://www.amazon.com/Abrasive-Wove...tch+brite+ball

They may be more abrasive than you want but a light touch is good.

Here's the gazelle I did for Mike S. It's just a slight improvement over a similar one I did years ago. It should have arrived at Mike's house today. I hope you like it Mike.

Totally happy with how this piece turned out. Well packed. Great communication with updates along the way. Worth every penny for sure. Fits in well and looks like it belongs on the covered patio...colors even match the furniture and stained floor, just amazing. It’s hard to describe, its old but looks brand new at the same time. So cool so so cool.

I always wanted one of Tim’s pieces, but when he took a long break from the board I never thought I would get that chance. Thrilled that he came back to CW for many reasons.
