Fuente Hemingway Signature

For years I've stayed away from Fuentes. They always struck me as hard to get expensive cigars. Which is laughable considering my fondness for Cubans. My buddy gave me a Hemingway Signature yesterday and I must say that it was a damn fine cigar. Size was in the Corona Gorda zone that I like. Complex, flavorful with just the right amount of strength. They appear to be more available than in the deep dark past of the early aughts. I need to stock some of these!

Hemingways are great cigars, I prefer the Maduro versions.

They're not all FF Opus X!
Like the Hemingways, like the Don Carlos, even like the Flor Fina, basic green band. Cut my teeth on 8-5-8s.

858 Maddie is my cigar that I compare all others.
Hemi Sig maduro is a great smoke. I have a tradition where I always smoke a Hemingway Maduro when I fry turkeys for Thanksgiving.

I have always thought the Fuentes make good cigars at a fairly reasonable price (leaving out Opus, which are crazy priced).

Do yourself a favor, give the Arturo Fuentes Flora Fina 858 line of cigars a run. They come in many editions: Candela (bright green), Claro, Connecticut Shade, Habano, Maduro, Sun Grown and the most rare the limited production Rosado. I Love the Sun Growns, Maduro's and of course the Rosado. They are not expensive, but the Sun Grown and the Rosado wrapped cigars often claim a slight premium. I also enjoy the Hemingway, Don Carlos and the Chateau Fuente lines, as well. The Chateau Fuente line was at one time exclusively Sungrown, but now includes some Rosado wrapped cigars. Like the King B & T the Queen B to name a few. The line has broadened to 9 cigars over the years, but I still prefer three of the original four sizes, the Chateau Fuente-a Robusto, the Double Chateau Fuente-a Toro and the Royal Salute-a Double Corona, in Sun Grown. There is also the only shaped cigar in the range(at the time) a short Belicoso. There is lots of spice and decent power in the SG's.

But, back to the option rich 858 line. The 858's are great everyday cigars and a nice size too, in the very approachable 6 x 47 format. Add that you can find one from Mild to Wild, they truly do have something for every cigar smoker to enjoy.

FWIW- My very first "real cigar" journey began with the humble AF Curlyhead Deluxe in Maduro.

Cheers!

Gonna stock some Fuentes in the humidors this Winter. I gotta get some of those Hemingway Signatures. And the 858 Sun Grown cigars look mighty tasty too.
