cedar chest for humidor

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ayphotohosting

I'm not a big fan of the Coolerdor idea because of how it looks and the offgasing of the plastic. Plus I would think I would want to line it with cedar before long term storage. If the above chest were properly sealed, wouldn't it make for a better option? Ideas?

Well, red cedar is way too strong. It will impart too much heavy cedar into the cigar. Spanish Cedar is much more mild adding to the cigar and not takingt away.

Another option is to get a standard, non-aromatic wood box and line it with Spanish Cedar.

Red cedar is in the Juniper family and contains toxins that are no good for your cigars.
Spanish cedar and I believe Honduran Mahogany are your wood choices for aging and storage.

Off gassing is not an issue with a quality cooler, like an Igloo. Just to make sure most folks leave the cooler outside, open, for a week or so before setting it up. I use my coolers for long term storage and aging with everything in cedar boxes in the cooler, so lining the cooler with cedar would be redundant and just decrease available space.

A cedar chest is most likely aromatic cedar and I would not want my cigars in the same room with it.
(wrong type of cedar!)

It needs to be Spanish Cedar or Honduran Mahogany.
