This one was given to us by MavEric.
Comments ranged from "could not put it down" to "The construction and appearance are the best things this cigar has going for it." So what was it Mav Cigar: Cigar #193 Member:Jojocigars. Const:5 Burn:5 Draw:5 Aroma:5 Flavor:10 Taste:10 Overall:10 Total:50 PreSmoke:'very nice dark maduro rapper. box pressed belicoso .would say it was a onyx resv' Smoke:'this was a great cigar had everything going right .could not put it down .burnt great .lots of flavor .did not go put .ex ex ex cigar ' Summary:'i think i did that in the last two boxes should i say more .great smoke ' Cigar: Cigar #193 Member:PurosDave. Const:4 Burn:4 Draw:4 Aroma:1 Flavor:2 Taste:3 Overall:5 Total:23 PreSmoke:'The construction and appearance are the best things this cigar has going for it. This is a short boxpressed belicoso with a smooth maduro wrapper. It feels very solid and prelight draw is great.' Smoke:'The draw and burn were very good with no corrections needed. It is very mild, but at the same time has a slight harshness that I am sure is not normal for this cigar. The aroma and flavor may be affected by this harshness or at least related, are unpleasant to say the least. On occasion I can detect a woody aroma and cocoa flavor, but they are very subtle.' Summary:'I think I got a dud. I think that something about the blend of this cigar tells me this is not what the manufacturer intended. It may be young or suffering from some other abnormality, but the only thing this cigar had going was that it was well rolled (I wouldn't have boxpressed it if I could choose). I think I should sample another to be fair, but from the little flavor and aroma I got I won't be running to the tobacconist.' Cigar: Cigar #193 Member:MavEric Const:3 Burn:4 Draw:3 Aroma:4 Flavor:8 Taste:6 Overall:7 Total:35 PreSmoke:'This severe box pressed, very dark maduro had oil crystals which glimmered against the black wrapper.' Smoke:'There's a slightly tight draw that loosens up; a weak amount of smoke at first that builds. Starts spicy with cedar and a slight licorice taste. After 1/3, the box press evens out and good, heavy maduro flavors kick in and keep it interesting. Med-full strength, med-full bodied. Fairly long finish.' Summary:'This was my sample: it's pretty tastey for a $3 cigar but it doesn't live up to all the hype that surrounded it. I much prefer the toro sizes which really offer a good, unique liquorice taste.' Cigar: Cigar #193 Member:Neophyte Const:4 Burn:3 Draw:3 Aroma:4 Flavor:7 Taste:8 Overall:8 Total:37 PreSmoke:'This is a very well constructed cigar. It is a nice maduro wrapper, no large veins. The color is very consistent. There was an odd feel to the bunching. This may relate to the box pressing. As I felt the cigar there was a feeling that the wrapper was slightly loose from the filler.' Smoke:'This was a very good cigar. There was a light bite in the beginning but it went away. It came back as I was nubbing it. There was an uneven burn about halfway through. The coal bypassed a section of the wrapper and some of the outside filler. This did not effect the taste.' Summary:'This was a very enjoyable cigar that I would enjoy trying again. Cigar: Cigar #193 Member:sevenmag Const:3 Burn:3 Draw:4 Aroma:4 Flavor:7 Taste:6 Overall:7 Total:34 PreSmoke:'At first glance the dark belicoso looked good, but after closer inspection there were a couple of major flaws. One large viod and one stem poking through the wrapper. It was also a bit spongy, after a few weeks at 66 to 68 percent I would think it would have firmed up a bit. It cut well and took to the lighter fine but the draw was a bit easy for my taste.' Smoke:'At first there was no taste at all, it picked up quick enough and settled into a mild to medium smoke. The flavor was straight forward, a good sweet core of cocoa and maybe a touch of cinnamon. Nothing to complex, but still enjoyable. I thought that dark oily wrapper would add a bit to it but it didn't. I had to straighten out the burn a couple of times and relight three or four. ' Summary:'This one left me a little disappointed. It just looked like a heavier bodied cigar. I won't say I didn't like it but these just don't do it for me. Anyone who enjoys lighter bodied cigars would probably enjoy this one. Especially if you like them in double maduro.' ' Edited by - sevenmag on 04/15/2002 08:36:58 AM |
