An 'uncooked' meal last night, consisting of peppercorn paté, smoked cheddar, bagette and a green salad tossed with a honey, red wine vinegar (not store-bought!) and olive oil vinaigrette. Crème caramel for dessert. Sometimes, simple is best!

Sounds good. When I was courting my wife, it wasn't unusual for us to pack a baguette, some havarti cheese and a bottle of rose and go to the lakefront to watch the sunset over Pontchartrain. You can build a life around that.

Mirador de Ulia Menu de Degustion. I am trying to get them to send me a copy of the menu.

Last night was autum menu de degustion at Restaurant Zaldiaran.

http://www.restaurantezaldiaran.com/...3%91O-2017/30/

The lomo de vaca (tenderloin of cow fails to mention the truffle, the cheese is a sheep's cheese from Spain, blue...)

Both are great. Vitoria costs about half of San Sebastian. But San Sebastian has a wine list to make you cry. Pintxos today... I need to walk a lot tomorrow... sardines, eels, sardines, anchovies with hot peppers, chorizo, mushrooms in garlic and caramelized onions

Dinner in Logrono, Restaurant Tondeluna... very casual place with a Michelin recommendation (not a star, you probably need linen napkins for a star).

Great food, incredible wine... this is La Rioja

best veggie 'soup' I have ever had, Iberico ham in the broth certainly elevates it.

Bread sliced tableside from a fresh loaf... then they deliver butter in a small bushel basket...

another tasting menu, another night I am wallowing around afterwards

Last night we had Lobster ravioli in crème sauce. Had some decent lump lobster so I mixed it with some ricotta and made some quick ravioli's. Crème sauce was just some sautéed garlic mixed with cream, roux and a the last of the fresh herbs from the planters box (oregano and parsley) along with some grated parm. Pretty good for 45min of work. I can make fresh pasta faster than it takes to boil the boxed....practice and the Kitchen Aid attachments are the key.
