Kudos to Walker Briar Works
I took an older Nording freehand to a local pipe shop to have the stem replaced. It had become quite loose and was, in my opinion, beyond repair. I was told that because of the repairman's waiting list, it would take six weeks before he'd get to my pipe. I said, okay, and left the pipe.
6 weeks..... 8 weeks....... 12 weeks......... "Sorry, we seem to have misplaced your pipe." "Well, here's the bowl. You didn't want the old bit, did you?" "You'll have to give us six weeks to make this repair, 'cause we don't have the old bit to work from." Needless to say, I took the remainder of my pipe with me. At the recommendation of a friend, I sent the pipe to Walker Briar Works. It took a few weeks to get my pipe back, but the work done was outstanding. They actually post a pdf file on their website, so you know the pecking order for your repair. |
