I starting home roasting after visiting my brother about 7-8 months ago. I followed his method, the turn crank pop corm popper until I got tired of smelling like smoke, taking 20 minutes to get to 2nd crack, etc.

So based on some recommendations here, I purchased an original West Bend Poppery about 2 months ago. Added a Pinto Bean Can chimney. Turned it on, threw in some beans and from minute one had no issues except for one roast when the temp outside was below 25F.

So the problem. Based on MY recommendation, my brother went out to Ebay, found a Poppery (also original 1500W), and has tried 2-3 roasts (in his garage ~55-60F) and can't get to 2nd crack, even in 20 minutes.

His is obviously not heating up to par. Anyone had any issues with theirs and if so some mechanical suggestions on possibly how to fix.
