I'd like to weigh in on the Matusalem Platino. I picked up a bunch of it as I really liked the Gran Reserva, but in a Mojito it has an odd 'warm' flavor that doesn't mix as well. On the Ron Zacapa - don't bother with the 15yo. In my opinion it's much harsher and not at any significant discount over the 23yo.

New Orleans Rum is the only cheap rum that I have found that works well.

As I said, double the sugar, the mint, AND the lime, and you should be able to mask a shitty rum.
