Connections between tobacco regions & flavor

I do not have a "refined" palate as many of you do. I know what I like when I light it up, but I think I finally figured out what a "woody" taste is like.
.....but I digress. Last night I took some time out on the porch and lit up a La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor Reserva, and as I sat there and smoked it I thought "Aaaahhhhhh, THIS is the flavor profile I like!" I took the time to try and pick out different flavors as they emerged ( review to follow soon).....there's a certain profile that I like most, I guess it would be a spicy/pepper combined with cocoa thing. I have noticed that I tend to get this profile of flavor from Nicaraguan leaves with a blend from some other regions. Then today I noticed the difference with one that I smoked, a Tarazona 305. This cigar has Nicaraguan for both filler & binder, but a Costa Rican wrapper. I found this to have that "classic" Nic taste IMO......nice spicy kick to it, but not so much cocoa....instead it had what I am calling a woody flavor in the background.
So with all this in mind, my question is this.....do you know which regions/tobaccos produce these distinctive "flavors"?? When you are looking to try a new cigar, do you ever look at the "blend" of tobaccos and pretty much know ahead of time whether or not you will like it??
(Hopefully my question makes some sense )
