Humidor problems

I seasoned it a couple years ago and now it will only stay around 40%... I have a Xikar Jar in it + a shot glass full of DI water... Any help would be appreciated.

Have you salt-tested your hygrometer?

If the shot glass of water has been in there awhile, it should be well over 40%. Definitely check your hygrometer calibration. Maybe even get another hygrometer to verify the reading.

The hygrometer is the cheap one that came with the humidor... Probably time to replace it with a digital one

So it's an analog hygrometer? Yep, needs replacing.

I've had good luck with the Hygro-Sets. I've salt-tested several, and none were more than a point or two off. For the price, they're hard to beat.

Oh, and take the shot glass of water out of your humidor. You're probably running way high...

So bought a Xikar from my local shop (I know I paid more than I should have but I am impulsive and had to get it that day... plus I like this local store so it is nice to make sure they don't go under)...

Was still low after I thru an element in a ziplock bag and reset the hygrometer... I just removed all my cigars and put them into my coolidor and re-seasoned the humidor... put the shotglass back in and will wait a day to see how it does.. It was incredibly dry in the humidor and now it is sealing tight.

Most of hte cigars that I had in the humidor were dry so I put a shotglass in the Coolidor to try to rehydrate them.. once the humidity in there starts to climb i will remove the shot glass.
