While I don't know anything about Mr. Brog, it looks nice but something tells me the quality isn't great.

How about this one Conrad:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Moretti-Pipe...kAAOSwdPBZ3Oom The Morettis usually go for $100-130 on Ebay. IMHO well worth the extra cost.

The Brog is a filter pipe. Blech! I've read posts of guys who have Brogs and they like 'em. But at that price, I'd be interested in what the stem is made of. Probably not high quality ebonite. Could be acrylic which wouldn't be bad.
Chris Askwith makes Mortas. Good ones. He costs more. But I've had a number of his pipes and the quality is worth the price. You won't find anything wrong with one of his pipes. I've had a few mortas. Didn't like the way they smoked. Don't care for the flavor it imparts. |

The Askwith Pipes are really nice no doubt, but $$$$. I have a Moretti Morta and love how it smokes, I don't get anything imparted in the flavor that I can tell.

I don’t own nor have I smoked a Mr Brog morta pipe. I have friends who smoke them. They don’t have anything bad to say about them. For the price, probably a good smoking pipe.
If you can swing it, go for a Moretti morta.

That Moretti looks less marinated. Less bog and more oak. Plus, I think they smoke kind of...moist. But that's my personal experience and feelings. I've had maybe 3. Hardly an exhaustive sampling. Lots of people really like them. |
