Alternative storage

Saw that a few people on another bb were using these Mylar bags instead of jars. Since I'm about out of room for jars thought I would give it a try. I already have an old heat sealer so about to seal these up. The medium bags hold 8-12 oz and the large bag holds over a pound.

You put tobacco in the bags and use a heat source to seal the bags? I have not seen these bags before. Not sure how it works.

That's about it Mike. It's a pretty thick Mylar designed to be non porous with a heavy zip type enclosure. For long term, just heat seal the top. It tears off when ready to be opened.

I have one like this:
Metronic 16inch/400mm Manual Impulse Manual Hand Sealer Heat Sealing Machine https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0062BFHRW..._ukZIBbWT7WPA9

I've used vacuum sealed Food Saver bags for long term storage and tossed them in a cooler. Worked really well. No moisture loss at all.
I've also just tossed pounds in the sealed bags they came in into the cooler and they were fine in the short term. By that I mean up to a year.
I expect your solution will work just fine.

This is a great idea. Thanks for the info, Andy. I'm running out of room for my jars also. The biggest problem I find with the jars is if I drop one on the concrete floor, they would probably break! Are those bags puncture proof?

I don't know about being puncture proof, but they are very thick and heavy duty. It seems you would really have to try on purpose to damage.
