Turkish Meerschaum pipes
What's your take on these? I have several of them and used to smoke them a lot, but now they just sit there. I find the tobacco does not taste as nutty and flavorful as briar or cob pipes.

I think they are fine smoking pipes. I have not had issues with them.

What are the pros and cons of Meerschaum pipes? Harder to keep clean?

The only con is if you drop it, it will chip, crack, or shatter. Other then that, they smoke well. I like how the color darkens over time from the oils on your hands. If you do acquire a meer, it might have a chalky flavor for a few bowls assuming you are getting a new one.

If you have smooth ones, they scratch easily also. I'm thinking of checking with some of the online sites to see if they would sell them for me as estate pipes. No sense of having them laying around doing nothing, except for several of them I won't part with.

I have a few. Two Bakis, a billiard and a bulldog,
a couple of Altinoks and an Aznavur claw. Like others said, they are fragile and will scratch. The only special treatment they get are I'll wash my hands before smoking and don't allow any cake.
