The AF Anejos come in cedar tubes and have a red sash on the foot. I paid $18 for it and was tickled to find one (at any price). I eagerly lit it up moments after tearing into the postal box. Here's my live review:
Reporting from my back deck on an unusually sunny day in Maryland. As I unwrap the cedar sleeve, I see a dark, mottled brown-black, tightly wrapped torpedo. Upon lighting I'm hit with a rich, sweet, caramel smell with a hint of leather. It burns very slowly but I'm rewarded with lots of smoke. Very even burn. The smoke is so sweet, I can inhale the smoke coming off the foot- not harsh at all, but full of flavor. 1/3 in and the draw opens up. Really feeling the cigar now. Oily, oily dark wrapper... 1/2 way in and I really needed that pepsi. Easy draw. Fuller bodied and a good burnt taste that fills my senses. Still perfect burn, flawless construction, strong cigar. 2/3 in and over an hour. Almost too much for me. Gets spicy. The cigar has overwhelmed me. Postscript: It took me a good day and 1/2 to get over this cigar. I had it on a full belly, but I still had a nicotine overdose. It's wonderful, but very very strong. The smoke was so good, I could eat it- just please use caution when smoking this bad boy! |
