Liga Privada No.9

Thanks Steve for the opportunity to smoke this cigar!

Liga Privada No. 9
6x52

Appearance
The wrapper is a nice chocolate color with some veins. The texture is rough with some tooth. Overall not a pretty cigar, but one I would call "manly".
Grade=91

Construction and burn
Very well made with no hard or soft spots.
Burn was very good with only one correction required.
Draw was perfect.
Grade=96

The smoke(first half)
The first few draws were mild and unremarkable. I thought to myself that there was no way Steve Saka would smoke a mild cigar like this everyday. I was sure a change was about to come, and it did.
After the first inch the smoke volume increased tremendously and a nice, balanced, medium body set forth.
I'm usually quick to distinguish a cigars tobacco origin, but this one has me stumped. I was sure there was Nicaraguan with maybe some Honduran mixed in.....No, wait.......I think I taste some Brazilian....damn, I'm not really sure.
The smoke is good, but I expect more in the second half.

The smoke(second half)
My expectations in the second half never surfaced.
The mild taste returned. The smoke flavors never changed from the first half. Basic tobacco, some nuts and coffee are prevalent throughout. Which is not a bad thing, it was just lacking the richness and changes that I expected.
The cigar ended on a medium body note with no real bang.
Grade=90

Verdict
1. Although this cigar looks "manly", it hardly is.....medium at best.
2. The standard flavors are present...coffee, nuts, chocolate.
3. I did enjoy this cigar, but the $10.95 price tag seems to be a stretch.

Overall grade=92
