An Excellent Virginia - Perique Flake

"Laurel Flake," produced by S. Gawith and Co. for the Tavern Tobacco Company, owned, I believe, by Knox Cigar.

It comes packed in a standard rectangular tin. The slices are packed fairly loosely and wrapped in gold foil. The aroma is delicious.

The cakes are not too moist, and rub out easily, dark brown and gold flecked. The flavor is full, but not overpowering. The perique is in the background, the Virginias predomiate, but you know the perique is there! It is easy to light, stays lighted well, and is surprisingly smooth for such a heady blend.

If you want to try a "classic" VA/PER flake, this is as good as any I have tried. There is none of the bite or overtaste of, say, C&D's "Briar Fox." I recommend this to anyone whose tastes tend to this sort of blend, or who would like to try a high quality representative of the same.
