Gawith Hoggarth & Co, Brown Irish Twist
This tobacco is spun and rolled into a long cigar like shape called rope or twist. This tobacco is a fire cured Virginia and Kentucky (Burley) blend. It has a slight vanilla like smell (tonquin bean) that I find pleasant. This tobacco is usually cut into coins for pipe smoking or cut into small plugs for chewing. It is very popular chewing tobacco in England.
I prepare this tobacco by using a cigar cutter to cut some coins. I then rubbed the coins out into loose leaf for pipe smoking. It is a bit wet so I dried it out for 2 hours before smoking. This is the strongest tobacco I have ever smoked, pipe or cigars. It has tons of earthy flavors, some smoky woodsy flavors as well. Intense is a good description for the flavors. The nicotine hit is also intense. Smoking this tobacco slow and steady brings out the best flavors this tobacco has to offer. Smoking fast is not a good smoking experience. So smoke it slow in a small pipe. I love this tobacco. So will you if you enjoy strong tobaccos.
