thread suggestion.... mold vs bloom
Is there anyone here that can put on a mold vs bloom tutorial ?
I have zero experience with either , but , a friends locker at local cigar store has one or the other , I do not know , I took them out , brought them home , wiped them off with distilled water (if it is mold I know that has no bearing) , have them isolated with a boveda pack in a ziplock in my Humi ... if it was fuzzy, multiple odd shaped clusters, it's mold.
if it was like a dry powdery dust, it's bloom. 99% of the time it's mold. Especially if you see it on the foot of the cigar.

I think it's 99.5%.

In fact the guys at FOH did an extensive set of laboratory tests on this very subject last year and found in every single case that bloom/plume did not exist. Some variety of mold was always present. No damage to cigars, but no enhancement either. Sorry to disappoint but their rather scientific findings are that plume is a myth. Go to their web site and read their findings. Best regards, John

This is a very divisive issue and causes lot of hard feelings. Tread lightly.
