A couple of points, Dan...
Generally speaking (as regards red Riojas), a Crianza will be more fruit-forward than a Reserva, and likewise a Reserva more so than a Grand Reserva, owing to proportionally greater exposure to wood prior to bottling for the latter two). However, this generalization doesn't take into account the winemaking style of the bodega, which is much more important in terms of what to actually expect in your glass. Some bodegas (such as Marqués de Cáceres) lean toward a more 'modern' style, while others (such as Lopez de Heredia) remain staunch traditionalists in terms of maintaining the importance of extended ageing in oak.
