Little Help? 2oth anniversary planning.

Ok people!
Next year is 20th anniversary for Cigar Weekly.
Yeah, go figure!

I thought it would be a great idea to do 12 profile interviews of people in the cigar business. Nick Perdomo is already on board. I just need some one (ones?) to do the interviews and write them up. We have time -January 1 is still a little bit down the road - but...

What I'd like is to get the individual/cigar maker / etc. to also commit some sort of prize that we would give away during the month that their interview is featured.

anyway, Jason and I are also open to your thoughts. 20 years is a long time, and a great opportunity to maybe raise awareness of this place, and generate some dough to keep it running on into the future.

John

I like the idea. How would the interviews take place? In person? By phone?

Any way you like. I'm going to talk to Nick in person - he's in town Tuesday. He'll be at an event so I won't be doing an interview, just trying to get it set up.

Rob, we have to be creative since none of us are full-time raconteurs. As such, when I used to do the CW Interviews ten years ago...damn....between 2007 and 2010, I used to do them by e-mail.

I would write up my own article, then write up my own questions. After that, i would start a thread here in Smokin Post asking for questions from CWers. I would edit those for grammar and spelling, sometimes I would combine similar questions.

Then I would submit the interview to the person if I knew them well enough, like Nick Perdomo, he always seemed to answer his own interviews, because he would talk with me about them at RTDA/IPCPR. Frankie Santos would always do the interviews with his people, whether it was Charlie or Carlos Toraño, Rolando Reyes or Carlos Diez.

It's not perfect, it lacks the personal touch, a little, but it worked for me, as full-time librarian, almost full-time E.i.C. of CW, and with everything else I had to do.

My one phone interview was Don Kiki Berger.

Hope that helps.

I could be involved with something like that. A phone interview would be much more difficult for me due to my hearing impairment. But presenting questions in writing - an interrogatory of sorts - would be something that I could be involved in. I think the hardest part for me would be coming up with the questions, especially since I am really not familiar with the industry.

I realize that traffic here is slower, now, but you could do multiple threads asking for member questions.

We can correspond privately, I'd be glad to give you some ideas. Since everyone is connected via social media, go to the company websites, go to their personal social media. You can get good ideas from those. Read up on them via other cigar-media outlets, and then ask BETTER questions

Thanks for stepping in Tommy-
Yes, written can work but you won't get as deep an answer as you'd probably like.

In any case, anyone want to lead this project?
