now that Mojito season is starting to run down and mint is getting sparse, I've turned my attention to vodka. Ketel and club soda with a twist of lime was really hitting the spot this weekend.

Anyone have recommendations or variations that are worth mentioning?

I like my Ketel straight, in a frozen tall shot glass (sometimes called a "shooter glass"), shaken with ice until it's nice and slushy.

I like Ketel shaken on ice and poured into a martini glass with a few olives. And a cigar of course.

huh, no fruit? I went with a lemon slice instead of the lime last night and that was mighty tasty as well.

This may be a bit fancy, but had this in a local bar/restaurant which subsequently closed. Luckily I was able to watch the bartender prepare it. It's a type of highball.

Soltice
5-6 basil leaves
teaspoon of honey
Ketel One
Ruby red grapefruit juice

Muddle the basil with honey and a splash of vodka

Add two ounces of Ketel One, top with grapefruit juice, stir. Remove muddled basil leaves, optional: garnish with a basil sprig.
