Return to pipes
I smoked pipes quite a few years ago but put the pipes away due to some changes in my life. After lurking around the Pipe Room for a few months, I decided to give the pipe another chance. Unfortunately my old pipes and accessories must have been lost in a move because they were nowhere to be found. Fast-forward to a couple of days ago and I dropped in on a local smoke shop. I didn't realize, but they have a reasonably good pipe and tobacco selection. I picked up a cheap briar and a couple of pouches of tobacco. I started with a nice house blend non-aromatic and the loading technique came back to me fairly quickly. I forgot how nice a good pipe can be. I think back to the old days, I may have burned my palate on bad aromatics, but this straightforward Virginia blend really clicked with me. While I won't be giving up the cigars anytime soon, I'm thinking about picking up another couple of pipes and a wider tobacco selection. Dammit, another way to spend money. That being said, since on the cigar side I'm almost exclusively smoking Cubans, it's nice to find a reason to return to my local B&M to do a little browsing.
Anyway, I'll probably be hanging around here a little more. I'm always looking for good tobacco recommendations for a pseudo-newbie.
