Mold problem... again...
I discovered mold in my humidor that was from when it sat in a hot/humid house after katrina.
I pulled it all apart, wiped the inside down with denatured alcohol, and put it all back together. Since then, it has sat between 60-65% humidity. The cigars that were affected I put aside, wiped off and smoked. Today I decided to check underneath my tray again and there's mold there again... It's like a light, powdery type mold pretty much. Covers parts of the tray and the surface of cigars that can be seen through the slots. It's right above where my humidifier sits and it's never done this before the storm. Anyone have any ideas what to do?

You might try sanding lightly to get under the mold and wipe again.

bleach would work but it'll stain, You could try filling the humidor full of a drying agent but that could end up warping or cracking the humidor. Honestly I would chalk it up to a loss and get a new humidor, not much sense in storing hundreds of dollars worth of stogies in something that you know has mold problems.

Personally, I would just get a new humidor.

As a college student who just moved, lives in a condo w/ no furniture, spending the money on a new humidor is not an option.
Anyone know where I can get a new top tray? It's the only place with mold. I've emailed the place I bought my humidor but they never responded. It is a Lincoln humidor that I bought from bargain humidors like 4 years ago.

Get rid of the humidor for crying out loud and get a tupperdor. Dirt cheap to buy and will prevent any additional damage to your cigars. You can replace the humidor when you do have money. Plus you will sleep much better at night knowing your sticks are sleeping well also.

k, here's my new plan.
I have a small tupperdor that can hold around 10 cigars, which I use to use to travel with cigars. I'm going to use it for any new cigars I purchase until I can get a new humidor. I haven't been purchasing many cigars in the past year so this will work for me. I'm going to pull out an old humidifier I have to use in this current humidor and get rid of the old one and consider it contaminated. I'm going to clean the mold off the current tray and let it dry out for awhile and see if I can find a new one. I'm going to consider all the cigars in this old humidor "contaminated" and I'm not going to put them into the tupperdor or new humidor when I get one. I did search through it now and only two have surface mold. The rest don't have any I can see with the visible eye. I'm going to just watch this old humidor a little more often now, especially where the mold developed and just smoke all the cigars I have in there. When they're all gone, the humidor is gone. I'm just wondering why there is no solution to this other than, throw it away. Just wondering what you do if you get some mold in a couple thousand dollar cabinet humidor or so. Just can't throw something like that away and get a new one.
