The one major thing I find lacking in the majority of today's music is the ability to tell a good story. All of the "love me, love you love love" crap shows absolutely no creativity.
A non-inclusive list of my favorite storytellers would include: Hiram "Hank" Williams Neil Young B.B.King Bob Dylan Dr. Dre Snoop Dogg The Butthole Surfers Tom Waits Jerry Jeff Walker Robert Earl Keen and, of course, George Jones Like I said, this list is very incomplete.
