Being an uber-hophead, I was kind of surprised that I just wasn't that big of a fan of this beer. The bitterness is nice, aroma is nice, but for some reason the malt background to me tastes like mud. I've come across that before in other beers, it just tastes kind of "green", like a homebrew that needs to age some more. Kind of saddens me, I had very high hopes for this and was stoked to see it out here.
I will tell you, Pliny the Elder has it all over the 90 minute. That should be arriving here in San Diego this week, if my sources are correct. BTW, I saw a homebrew recipe for Pliny the Elder... normally a batch of beer runs me about 35-40 bucks, depending on the style. Just for the hops ALONE in that beer... 50 bucks. I kid you not. That'd be a 100 dollar batch of beer for 5 gallons. I imagine that DFH's beers are something similar.
