Stoved Aromatics?
Years ago, on the old JRBB, one of the pipe guys (I think Yarnspinner) sent me various baggies of stoved aromatic pipe tobacco. Of those, one which really stood out to me was Lane's Hazelnut. It seems that by stoving the tobacco, the heat pretty much killed the PG in the leaf and infused the leaf itself with the hazelnut flavoring. The resulting tobacco was pretty damned remarkable, in my opinion. While I understand that it pretty much destroys any potential for aging, I don't really see much of a point to age aromatics anyway.
I have been unable to find any resources on how to replicate this, but I'd like to try. Any thoughts? |
