How do you find new smokes
I see everyone talking about all the new smokes they try etc...
How do you guys find new ones to smoke/try ?? I am limited to what I can find locally , and my experience trying new stuff from the online retailers has been less than stellar ... I find myself just returning to what I know... Dan |

I read as many reviews and posts as I can on various sites, try to determine if anything sounds like it would be to my taste, then look for something at the store or online. Usually end up with 2 packs or 5 packs to try and go from there. Not always to my liking, but if I don't try I wouldn't find some of my current favorites.

Fortunately, my LCS keeps it's ear to the ground and has new sticks all the time. And the guys and gals in my herfer group travel a lot for their jobs so get exposed to a lot of sticks across the globe. I don't read a lot of reviews I don't trust marketers. I mainly go by word of mouth or from this site.

my 2 favorite retailers give me recommendations based on what they know I like, plus I will make SWAGs on what I might like.

When I'm out of town I check to see if they have cigars I haven't tried. I buy them and if I like them I order some more on line.

I just bought about 35 singles from several different stores, I only purchased ones that I did not recognize. But it almost impossible to have an example of all of the new "boutique" cigars. There are too many. I have always liked to mix and match and that's a good (if a little bit costlier) method to get examples of the new stuff but I finally gave up on that goal. Now I just try to keep as many new/boutique cigars in my 'dors as I can. But being that it is Colorado winter right now, between the dryness of the air and the cold outside I spend more time maintaining them then I do smoking them for a few months. But our weather here at the foot of the Rockies is weird. On any given day I could be outside smoking a DC!
