Not the pier, but I've waded the flats back behind the pass (on the Galveston side) about a hundred times. What'd you want to know?
He wants to know if they have Tex Mex there.

We have a pier at Dauphin Island, that is about to come to an end.
Due to Katrina, and other Hurricanes/etc. the barrier Island that sits off
of Dauphin Island, has almost connected to the beach. Anotherwords,
the end of the pier, is no longer in the water. I was asking a
friend of mine, who fishes the pier, and others in the area, if any other
piers have experience that problem. He told me about the San Luis Pass
Pier. I happened to see the pier forum, and it just looked like a great
fishing pier.

Jeff, I almost always fish the Bay flats east of the Pass. The Pass itself is dangerous as hell because of the unpredictable currents, and the flounder stack up like cord wood on the flats when the weather turns cold.

Access to the flats used to be easy, but last time I was out that way there was construction going on...some incredibly stupidly-conceived development going in on what is, after all, transient land. If you can find a road that runs to the Bay shore just before you get to the Pass bridge, you're there. Hard sand flats that run for miles, with guts that come and go adding some structure to the bottom...just make sure to shuffle your feet.
