Right on DRJ...I would also add that the Paradigm humidifier system does the same thing and with only distilled water as well. As to those who claim to use only distilled water in their tupperadors and without problem, I would say they have either been extremely lucky, have been opening their tupperadors very frequently, or are using plastic containers that don't seal very well and allow the excess moisture to leave. If you seal a water source in a plastic container, it WILL move the RH to 100% eventually (assuming that excess water is in the humidifier and that there are no leaks). This is obviously not a good thing. The beauty of the Climax beads or PG solution is that they either allow water to evaporate if the RH is too low or absorb water if the RH is too high. This does not, can not, will not happen with plain water. I'm a chemist...I get paid to know these things! I'll collect my fees later .
