Not bad at all, especially for the price point. Some buttery-sweet, butter-scotchy flavors and just the faintest hint of the sea. Rather tasty.

I seem to remember Doug recommending this, too.

It's well balanced and displays a quite lovely textural quality through to the mid-palate. However, I find the finish a bit of a let-down.

Now... If they'd up the ABV from 40% to at least 46% (enabling a non-chill-filtered bottling), that might just unleash the TRUE spirit of the distillery character.

Cracked a bottle of this last night, and thought I must have been on crack because it tasted similar to a Islay. It was really good! I know I tasted peat & smoke like I never tasted in a Highland scotch before. Made it that much more enjoyable, and I recommend it to people who like highlanders but want to branch out to Islays. This would be a good bridge.

Apparently I actually was on crack. Last night I had some and could find no trace of smoke or Islay-esque tendencies. Weird.
