Milk Street vs America's Test Kitchen
With Christopher Kimball leaving ATK the show fell on to Julia Collin Davison and Bridget Lancaster as presenters. They remain engaging but they also seem to have become cheerleaders now, there is the missing element... giving Kimball crap. Still a great cooking show, a lot of good recipes, great teaching and it remains unbiased.
Milk Street is Kimball's new show... it is good, but seems a little forced as they find the dynamics out. Love the music. The Kimball doesn't like chili heat is a recurrent theme. Good recipes, good information, and a little more forward placement (I think) of sponsored equipment) Anyone else have thoughts on these shows?

Atk has been a staple before Kimball left. There was a chemistry he had with the lady chefs and even a little sexual tension between them. That is gone and I have pretty much done with the TV shows. I was a charter subscriber to Milk Street and I cancelled it after the second magazine. He wants to do exotic recipes at home. Used to enjoy that when I had an audience, but it is a long way in a different direction than interest is these days.

I have a hell of a pile of magazines I don't get to read... trains, food, etc.

I still get their emails. I might have been interested in that sort of cooking 30 years ago, but not these days.

I don't like the new ATK..Kimball brought a little something to the show that has vanished. Only watched one episode of MS, haven't decided yet. They had a chef on one or two episodes of ATK that was quite the looker, but alas, she vanished.

Yvonne Riperti? She was quite a looker, imo and only lasted for about 2 shows.

Milk Street seems to flow better as a show, Kimball is way more relaxed than anyone at ATK right now. You can all be hear a producer shouting "upbeat! positive! smile! be happy!" off camera on ATK.
