C&D Carolina Red Flake

Man I was more than a little disappointed when I missed out on this one. It's one of the newer "small batch" blends C&D has started putting out. Only 2400 tins of this Red Flake were produced and it sold out in no time. Now I'm hearing some of these tins have mold and C&D is stepping up and taking them back. If you happened to get one (or more) of these you might want to check into it. Bummer.

Here's a photo of the C&D Carolina Red Flake with the mold problem that is circulating on FB and some pipe forums.

What I'm hearing is most of the affected tins so far have numbers above 2100. But the batch was not numbered sequentially, so the tinning date is more important. Tins dated 5/13, 5/23 and 5/24 have mold. There's no way to tell which tins are infected and which are not. Laudisi has agreed to buy back all of the tins, and will pay postage. Email: sales@laudisi.com or (843) 491-4150

Some are saying they checked and their tins are good. Some guys are saying stuff like they didn't notice it at first but after peeling back a few flakes they found it. One guy popped open a tin and smoked a bowl after he got his order and then jarred up the rest. When this came to light he checked his jar and there was mold.

Some are keeping what they got, some are returning. Apparently this has happened before with C&D. It's just a bummer all the way around.

They're asking for all tins to be returned now...

Not sure how they'll "re-introduce" this however, since this was a "small batch".
