Technivorm Strategies
My KBT-741 arrived this week, but after five-plus years of using a press-pot, I’m not completely satisfied with the results. I’m grinding my beans on the finest setting (Cuisinart burr grinder) and used just over five scoops (I think each is two tablespoons – "voor 2 koppen") for 10 cups of water. I have a Swiss gold filter and ran just water through the machine on first use. Also, I’m steeping the grounds with the close-filter switch as recommended on Sweet Maria.
The result is thinner that I’m used to, which I expected, but the flavors are less pronounced, too. Is that normal? Am I doing something wrong here? On the other side of things, it makes my morning routine much simpler. Rather than boil water then wait three to five minutes, the Technivorm starts percolating in less than 30 seconds. It’s so fast, that I almost made a mess this morning when I walked away from it with the close-filter switch set. Two minutes later the filter is close to over flowing. It brews a whole pot under three minutes. |
